Speed/virus issues aside you still need to back up your data.   If your harddrive breaks, all your stuff is gone.

There are dozens of ways to back up your data.  If there was one best way everybody would do it only that way.  What is 'best' depends on how much data, how often that data changes and how organized the data is.

Personally, I prefer to use write-once optical disks for backups (DVD).  It is not the simplest or easiest way, but it works well for me.

I've decided to forego all this wonderful advice and replace my 9 year old computer.   What are some suggestions?  I'm not a gamer, so I don't need all the souped~up graphics stuff.  Just a reliable machine that has plenty of storage for all my photos and allows me to get to TMN with ease.
